Boston Piano Grand Designed by Steinway

Presently the Boston Piano Grand is built by Kawai Musical Instruments Mfg. in Japan and Indonesia, designed by Steinway. The high efficiency and quality found at the Kawai facilities made them an obvious choice to produce Steinway’s Boston line. The Boston line of grand pianos was introduced by Steinway & Sons in 1992. Boston pianos utilize traditional wooden parts for the action, while Kawai continues to prefer their state-of-the-art, exclusive world acclaimed 50% stronger, precise-touch, 25% faster quick-response, carbon fiber reinforced ABS, Millennium III Action.

The exclusive Millennium III Action is the secret behind Kawai winning in numerous International Piano Competitions, with the ultra-responsive touch of the Shigeru Kawai SK Concert Grand and Kawai GX Semi-Concert and Kawai Conservatory and Professional GL Series grand pianos. The acclaimed Millennium III Action uses state-of-the-art ABS-Carbon components that are exceptionally light and rigid to provide faster repetition and more power with less effort. Microscopic surface textures on selected action parts provide superb response and control.
