KAWAI The Variety of a Digital Piano: Convenience & Flexibility
Complementing the instrument’s class-leading Responsive Hammer III keyboard action and Progressive Harmonic Imaging piano sounds, the CN27 also offers a variety of convenient digital features that further enhance one’s musical enjoyment.

A selection of different instrument voices, built-in lesson songs, and the ability to record and playback performances are just some of the features accessible from the cheek-block control panel, with built-in Bluetooth® functionality for connecting to smart devices wirelessly.

KAWAI Rich sound selection
Supplementing the beautiful acoustic piano voices, the CN27 also features a modest selection of additional sounds, ranging from electric pianos and drawbar or church organs, to strings, human choirs, and synth pads, inviting musicians to add greater variety to their performances.

Furthermore, the Dual playing mode also allows two different sounds, such as grand piano and strings, to be layered together, while the Four Hands mode divides the keyboard into two independent 44-key sections.  This feature is particularly useful in learning environments, allowing teacher and student (or student and student) to play together at the same time using a single instrument.

KAWAI SONG RECORDER
The recorder on the CN27 allows up to three songs to be stored in internal memory and played back at the touch of a button. These recordings can serve as convenient self-assessment tools for players of all skill levels.

KAWAI Vocal Assist & Sound Preview
Despite its modestly-sized control panel, the CN27 offers a broad range of digital features, with the optional Vocal Assist and Sound Preview modes also available to aid operation.

Once enabled, Vocal Assist provides a spoken explanation when selecting sounds and functions, while Sound Preview plays a short musical passage to demonstrate the selected sound or sound setting, alleviating the need to check the owner’s manual.

KAWAI Alfred Inside!
The CN27 comes with the first year’s lesson songs from Alfred Publishing’s Basic Piano Course 1, Premier Course 1 and Adult Course 1 built in. We’ve also included the printed music and recordings for time-tested finger exercises such as scales, arpeggios and Hanon songs.

Kawai digital pianos are the only instruments with Alfred lesson songs built into them*. With the built-in lesson songs, a student can listen to the instructional song being played by an Alfred staff pianist. The student can follow along with the lesson book** to learn how the piece is supposed to sound. The student can slow the song down and play along, even muting the recorded left-hand or right-hand parts to practice hands separately (a common practice technique). The student can also record his or her performance and then compare it to the built-in performance.

Since 1922, Alfred Publishing has dedicated itself to helping people learn, teach and play music. More than 6.5 million pianists around the world have learned to play the piano with the help of Alfred's Basic Piano Course, making it the most trusted piano method books in the world. Now a new generation of pianists can learn using this proven method, but with a new practice partner – the Kawai digital piano.

** Alfred books are sold separately.

KAWAI Concert Magic
This exclusive feature lets anyone enjoy the thrill of playing the piano, even if you’ve never played before.

Do you wish you could play the piano, but never learned? Playing a musical instrument, especially the piano, is a dream that most people have. Yet, very few have managed to realize that dream... until now.

To help make the dream a reality, Kawai developed Concert Magic – an exciting feature that allows everyone, even non-players, to experience the thrill of playing real music. Concert Magic is an intelligent, interactive system that makes playing songs incredibly simple and fun.
KAWAI Ivory Key Touch Surfaces
The impressive CN27 features Kawai’s highly regarded Ivory Touch key surfaces as standard.  This finely textured material gently absorbs fingertip perspiration and oils to assist playing control, and possesses a natural, matte finish that is smooth but not slippery.

Furthermore, this moisture is absorbed without dirt or grease permeating the surface, allowing the keytops to be wiped clean easily using just a damp cloth.

KAWAI Integrated Bluetooth® Connectivity
In addition to standard USB and MIDI ports, the CN27  also boast integrated Bluetooth MIDI technology, allowing the digital piano to communicate with supported smart devices wirelessly.

Once paired with a phone, tablet, or laptop, CN27 owners can easily expand the instrument’s functionality with a wide range of education, performance, and scoring apps.  A dedicated Kawai Virtual Technician control app is also freely available, providing an enjoyable way to learn about and adjust various acoustic piano characteristics from an attractive touch interface, without the need for additional adaptors or cables.

* Availability of Bluetooth® function may vary depending on market area.
* For more information please refer to the Bluetooth MIDI Information support page.
KAWAI Built-in lesson & finger exercises

The CN27’s convenient lesson function allows aspiring pianists to learn piano with classical Czerny, Burgmüller, Beyer, Bach, and Beethoven etudes, or a collection of songs from the popular Alfred’s Basic, Adult, and Premier course books.

With a strong emphasis on acoustic piano realism, the CN37 also features traditional finger exercises, scales, and warm-up drills, and includes companion books for all classical scores to further aid one’s piano development.

Lesson Function
The Lesson function allows budding pianists to practice the piano using a selection of built-in song books and finger exercises. The left and right hand parts of each piece can be practiced separately, adjusting the tempo to  perfect difficult passages, before being recorded for self-evaluation.

KAWAI Premium headphone experience
The CN27’s Spatial Headphone Sound (SHS) technology enhances the depth and realism of the instrument’s sound when listening through headphones or earphones. The player can select one of three different acoustic presets that adjust the spatial positioning of the sound, while also helping to reduce auditory fatigue when using earphones or headphones for extended periods of time.

In addition, the CN27 also allows players to select a variety of headphone types (Open, Semi-open, Closed, In-Ear, Canal, etc.) for an optimized listening experience.

KAWAI Grand Feel Pedal System
Reinforcing the CN Series’ reputation as the most realistic digital pianos in their price range is Kawai’s Grand Feel Pedal System. This unique feature accurately replicates the position and individual weighting of the damper, soft, and sostenuto pedals of a Shigeru Kawai SK-EX concert grand piano to further enhance the CN27’s acoustic piano-like authenticity.

KAWAI Adjustable Music Rack
The CN27’s broad music rest is engineered to accommodate the most ambitious musical works, with a high-quality surface and attractive round design.

As with a grand piano, the viewing angle of the instrument’s music rest can be adjusted to suit the performer’s playing position, or laid flat for convenience when notating scores or sketching musical ideas.
.
KAWAI Virtual Technician - Personalized piano adjustments
The knowledge and skill of an experienced piano technician is essential to bring out the best of a fine acoustic piano. In addition to tuning each note, the technician also performs numerous regulation and voicing adjustments that allow the instrument to truly sing.

A skilled piano technician can personalize an acoustic piano’s sound and touch response. Kawai’s exclusive Virtual Technician does the same for the CN27 digital piano.

The CN27’s powerful Virtual Technician function simulates these refinements digitally, allowing discerning musicians to shape aspects of the selected piano’s character to suit their personal preferences.

Perform touch weight and voicing adjustments, regulate hammer and key release noises, and fine-tune string, damper, and cabinet resonances.  It is even possible to adjust the precise tuning, volume, and character of individual notes – all in real-time.

The World's Most Advanced Digital Pianos
KAWAI CN37, CN27 Series Digital Piano Action
Kawai CN37, CN27, Use the Real Hammer III (RHIII) Responsive Hammer Action with Let-Off and Triple Sensor Detection

The Kawai CN37, CN27, Digital Upright Pianos use the Responsive Hammer Action III (RHIII) action an industry-standard design where the pivot point is placed at the back of the key, not in the middle. The CN Digital Series Action utilizes a hammer component under the keys that creates a mechanical movement and feels similar to an acoustic piano. Additionally, the hammer weights are “graded” where the left-hand, or bass, keys are heaviest. As you move up the keyboard the hammers gradually become lighter. This simulates the same characteristic found in an acoustic pianos action where the hammers are larger in the bass region and gradually get smaller as you move up the keyboard.

The Real Hammer - Responsive Hammer Action III (RHIII) actions is the latest version of Kawai’s plastic-key actions. In addition to the aforementioned features, they offer Ivory-touch key surfaces, triple sensor key detection, and Let-off.
