THE ULTRA-RESPONSIVE TOUCH
The exclusive Millennium III Action is the secret behind the ultra-responsive touch of the K Series upright pianos. Our acclaimed Millennium III Action uses state-of-the-art ABS-Carbon components that are exceptionally light and rigid to provide faster repetition and more power with less effort. Microscopic surface textures on selected action parts provide superb response and control.
MAXIMUM PRECISION
Kawai K Series ABS-Carbon Action Parts The Millennium III Action features components made of ABS-Carbon, a composite material created by the infusion of carbon fiber into our renowned ABS Styran. ABS-Carbon is incredibly sturdy and rigid, which allows the creation of action parts that are lighter without sacrificing strength. The result is a stronger, faster action that offers more power, better control and greater stability than conventional all-wood actions.
SERRATED RAIL SURFACE
The action rail surface is finely serrated in three strategic areas to secure the hammer, wippen and damper flanges in place for optimum action alignment and a more precise hammer strike.
ABS-CARBON ACTION PARTS
The use of ABS-Carbon makes the action part tremendously strong and consistent. ABS-Carbon is many times stronger than wood and is virtually impervious to shrinking and swelling due to humidity. This extraordinary combination of strength and stability allows ABS-Carbon action parts to transfer energy to the hammers with unparalleled precision, power and nuance for a superb playing experience.
POWER AND REPETITION OF EACH KEYSTROKE
The jack is the pivotal link between the key and the hammer that controls the power and repetition of each keystroke. Made of carbon and polyacetal, our exclusive Carbon Jack is molded as a single piece using Kawai's "Tapered Core" design for minimum weight, maximum directional strength and optimum responsiveness. It is virtually indestructible, will not warp due to humidity, and requires no lubrication – all of which reduces the need for maintenance. A microscopic surface texture dramatically increases control during pianissimo passages. These attributes make the Carbon Jack far more advanced than the conventional glue-jointed wooden jacks found on most other pianos.
ADDED MEASURE OF STRENGTH AND UNIFORM STABILITY
Made from a custom mold, die-cast parts are formed exactly the same every time. K Series Upright pianos feature a minimum of three aluminum action brackets that are die-cast to provide an added measure of strength and uniform stability to the action for accurate touch over time. Both the hammer rail and wippen rails are permanently locked in place to maintain the exacting tolerances of the action design and ensure long-term stability.
ACCURATE HAMMER ALIGNMENT TO OPTIMIZE TOUCH AND TONE
The action rail is the "spine" of the piano's action. K Series action rails are made of durable extruded aluminum with our advanced Dual-Beam design for strength and stability. The dual-beam design makes our action rails extremely strong and stable to support the hammers. The finely serrated rail surface and the exclusive Insuliner hold hammer flanges securely in place to preserve accurate hammer alignment and optimize touch and tone.
OPTIMUM TOUCH
Our exclusive NEOTEX key surface material made of cellulose fiber offers the smooth, understated texture of natural ivory and ebony – and a semi-porous, silica-filled surface to absorb the hand's natural oils and perspiration. Since NEOTEX is used for both the sharps and naturals, the feel of the keys is consistent across the entire keyboard. NEOTEX resists cracking and fading over years of use and is static-resistant to help prevent the build-up of unwanted dust. The result is a beautiful, long-lasting key surface with exceptional playability. (K-500 and K-800 only)
MAHOGANY HAMMERS LEAVE MORE ENERGY AND TONE IN THE STRINGS
Mahogany hammer moldings are lightweight and extremely responsive. Lighter weight lets them release faster after striking, which leaves more energy and tone in the strings. Found on only the finest pianos, mahogany is used for the hammer mouldings on the entire line of K Series Professional Upright Pianos.
MAXIMUM RIGIDITY TO DELIVER GREATER POWER WITH EASE
Kawai K Series Extended Length Keys material for the keys – light, yet extremely strong for its weight. It responds with minimal flex and exceptional consistency, transmitting every subtle nuance of the pianist’s performance while remaining stable through years of heavy use. The length of each key has been extended to make playing easier and provide more even response from the front to the back of the playing surface. Keysticks are also designed with a slightly taller profile for maximum rigidity to deliver greater power. The benefits to the player are greater control and more power with less effort.
TOUCH - THE POWER OF PIANISSIMO
One of the most coveted attributes of a fine piano is dynamic range – the ability to play not only thundering fortissimos, but also the most delicate and sensitive pianissimos. The technological superiority of the Millennium III Action is most evident in its extraordinary ability to produce the perfect pianissimo. It seems ironic that K Series technology speaks loudest when it whispers.
